Blog Post #7

For the teacher website, I looked at my high school, Tappan Zee High School. The homepage contains a directory tab that takes you to a list of teachers, emails, and websites. Everyone who visits the page has access to teacher information, such as emails, as well as announcements, schedules, and other basic information. However, all of the specific teacher websites are all private and only given out to the students in the classes. I have included a picture of the directory tab at the bottom of this post.

There many programs/software I will use to effectively educate my students. One program I will use is Google Classroom as an alternative to a blog. I feel that Google Classroom provides a much more efficient and organized format for a digital classroom than a blog does. In addition to this, if I were teaching a class centered around technology, I would use programs such as Weebly or Wix in order to familiarize my students with website creation. Website is an important creation that is relevant to almost any career, so I think students can really benefit from these websites.

PB Works is a useful, yet outdated software that I probably would not use with future students. I think that the software is not necessarily hard to use, however, the UI seems to be very old fashioned and not visually appealing, featuring lots of boring grey and beige colors. I did not have trouble navigating the page functions once I got the hang of the website, but I know that many of my group members had trouble with the site. I just don't think that PB Works is intuitive like many of its alternatives. Wikis can be useful tools for classrooms in order to facilitate projects and class interaction. but I believe that PB Works is not a good wiki for this purpose.
